Intellectual Montage

For this video, I wanted to give a feel to meat and steak that would give it a sort of horrifying feeling. A feeling that would make you want to go vegetarian because what you see might disturb and just disgust you. I applied this affect by taking one constant sound and changing the tempo from a slow pace to a lot faster pace to give a panicking feeling. And as the sound progresses, I have the frame jump at the same time also applying the same feeling.

Kuleshov Effect

For my video of the Kuleshov Effect, the piece I used to cut to was a clip of my brother smiling. Combined with the content of the video, it is hard to tell what he is smiling at which makes it a rather enjoyable experience. During sports videos, he could be smiling at any one of the players or maybe the pain they're in, if they're in any. Some videos are funny which give it a heartwarming wacky feel. Then there are some videos with pain like the nuclear test which give it a more diabolical twist.

Digital Photomontage

I used the same picture that I used for my non-digital photomontage but just added more to it and made some modifications. I put a picture of a bear and of a man falling both representing obstacles in life. Obviously, life isn't going so well if you are falling and the last thing someone wants to encounter is a bear. Carmelo Anthony is in color while the rest of the cruel dark world is in black and white. Basically what I wanted it to portray was that you can overcome anything that comes your way with some effort and plenty of hard work. Thats why Anthony is in color. He doesn't let the black and white take him over.

Photo Montage

When I look at this image, the first thing that comes to mind is survival of the fittest. Although the world can be kind soothing and gentle, which is being represented by the main background of the hotel, the world is a wilderness. This is represented by the forest cut out. To show that life is rough and full of obstacles, I have a cut out of a handgun being pointed at Carmelo Anthony. He represents the overcoming of the obstacle in this wilderness we call life.

An Example of Transcoding

There are many more ways to get your information and news nowadays. Transcoding says that you will not have to go to a traditional newspaper in order to get your updates on society. You can just go to a website and see it yourself. I put this picture of my external hard drive because I can easily go to my friends house and get any movies or music that he has that I may want instead of going out and buying the cd.

An Example of Variability

Variability states that any object can exist in multiple forms. This bottle of tea would be able to do that. If I wanted to, I could bloat it up to a more oval shape. I could shrink it to a much smaller size. The bottle could even be made into a spiraling vortex. This bottle could be changed so much that you would never think it was a bottle to begin with.

An Example of Automation

For automation, I have this picture of a close up of my shoe. This picture was taken with default characteristics, so whatever my camera saw is what it captured automatically. Everything within this frame can be manipulated and changed in whichever way you see fit. For example, I would be able to desaturated the image, make it smaller, change the colors around, etc.

An Example of Modularity

This is a close-up of a basketball which can be interpreted as modularity. The ball is composed of many smaller and smaller parts. Those parts are created with even smaller parts. This theory basically states that everything is composed of smaller and smaller pieces ultimately creating what you see before your eyes. You can see this a bit more clearly with this specific shot because you can distinguish between every single square that makes up this basketball. Putting all these together gets you the full sphere and shape of the ball.

An Example of Numerical Representation

Not only is the shoe an example of numerical representation, but everything else within the frame is as well. The floor, the light and all the different shades of color are all made up with different combinations of ones and zeros. In reality, each of these can all be viewed in terms of binary code.
